It is the mission of Jacobson Marina Resort to always provide the highest quality products and services to our guests, and to continuously surprise and delight all who visit here.
JM in winter

Welcome to Season 5 at the New Jacobson Marina Resort!

As always, thank you for a great 2011.  Lori and I are excited about the 2012 boating season.  Again, we will continue to work at refining the services we offer our to guests, and to improve upon them in every way possible.  The guests are the most important part of our business.

Without YOU, we would have no business.

Last year was a great year.  We hosted our first wedding party in August.  There were about 180 people in attendance with two large tents.  One tent was for food service, the other was for the band and dance floor.  There was a little skepticism at first by the parents.  All during the party and to the very end we were told numerous times that it couldn’t have gone better in any way.  And yes, they are still happily married and still a part of our Jacobson Marina Resort family.

We also had the chance to host a 50th wedding anniversary as well as a rehearsal dinner for another wedding.  Both went without flaw and were great events.  Keep us in mind if you have a special event.  We love those!!!

Of course, we want to again thank everyone for their ongoing support in 2011 and know that we are working hard to earn your support again during 2012.  It's always a great pleasure for Lori and I to serve of our guests as Kings and Queens.  You know the motto: “anything we can do to make your day better, as long as it’s legal we’ll do it!”

We hope to see you soon.

Sincerely, John and Lori Sarya

The Fifth Season – 2012

The docks have been washed and cleaned throughout the marina once again.   They are looking great!!  We are working on a few aspects of improvements for 2012.

Building and Grounds

The first one is to keep our building and grounds in 100% excellent condition.  We are planning on a complete painting of the building and its’ surroundings.  This seems to be an on-going process as the winter weather and being on the water can be extremely harsh to the facility exterior.  Although we have done many touch up jobs through the past 4 years, we feel a complete makeover is in need this year.

The "Partio"

Another area we will address is what we call our “partio” - the area between the pool and the main building.  Many guests have indicated a need for another grill that is closer to the main dock.  We are planning on a portable grill and propane tank for the 2012 season.  For 2013, we are tentatively planning to add at least 2 more permanent, built-in grills.  At that time, we may also add a roof-over that will also add comfort during either those hot sunny days or those not-so-sunny rainy days.

The Ship's Store

For the Ship's Store, we have researched some alternative sources for clothing and t-shirts.  Nothing absolute here yet, but we are looking for some change along with our “usual” clothing.  Of course, we are still one of the largest Costa single sunglasses distributors in Michigan with already receiving over 21 new pairs and styles for 2012.  Come check us out for your next pair of sunglasses.  You can’t go wrong.

Also in the Ship's Store we are anticipating adding a new computer and marina management software program.  This has not been obtained and installed yet, but we are working diligently to get this in place.  It’s a lot of work to install and customize but we feel it will be well worth the expense.

The Docks

We were fortunate not to have the usual dock repairs needed after having such a mild winter.  Although we like the winters, we really like not having the repairs to the docks in the spring.  Thank you to the snow Gods for being with us on that one.

New Roof-Overs

Last but not least, we are working to place a roof-over in our commercial grilling area.  We have always been fortunate that we have never had rain or bad weather during any of our planned events.   We would like to say “it never rains on our parade” but one day we may lose that good luck.  By having the roof-over on our grills and smokers we can be better rest assured we won’t have any problems.

Other Changes

Although there are many smaller changes that we are making, we feel these are the changes you may most visually recognize while with us.  Many of the other changes are subtle and of the type that will assist us in providing better service.   For those who are also eco-minded we are slowly working to replace those not so “green” aspects of the business with more eco-minded products (lighting, thermostats/heating, etc….).

If there is something that you feel would be of value for us to add or change, please let us know at any time.  Our budget is not endless and does have a bottom to it so we can’t promise to do everything asked of us today, but we will work hard to prioritize those requests for the future, as appropriate.

Again, we look forward to serving you during the 2012 boating season and greatly appreciate the support shown us.

The marina is one short block off of Frankfort's main business district.  Shops, restaurants, a pharmacy, hardware store, variety store, supermarket, public Lake Michigan beach, and much more are all located within a few short blocks of the marina.

Our Goal

When you arrive at the Marina, you will immediately notice first class service beginning with the landing of your boat all the way thru your departure.  Our dock-hands are trained specifically to provide for your needs in all ways.  It is our goal that in the event you decide to never leave your boat, you can still experience the service and experience of a great time for many days.  If you do leave your boat, just a few steps away you may enjoy the pool and hot tub, and have the dock-hands bring your food to poolside.  You can shop in the Ship's Store for your home, for loved ones, or to just bring something back to those who could not join you.  Looking for something a little less active?  Take a stroll over to the Peninsula and enjoy a beverage of your choice while watching the sunset.
