Hello to everyone after a long hard winter! If you are like most people I
have spoken with, you’re getting ready for another great year of boating.
It seems as though it’s this time of year we really get that “itch” to get
back on the water. I know it hit me!
2009 is going to be a great year. Fuel prices have stabilized a bit so I don’t
believe we will have such high prices as we did last year. It’s not a promise,
but it is comforting. Preseason reservations are already much higher than anticipated
compared to what we had last year. We have several groups scheduled to come and enjoy
some time with us. Most, of which, are going to also enjoy some great food along with
the other activities which bring them here. We’ve also been getting individual
reservations from many of our great guests from last year. Thanks to everyone for
your continued support!!!!! We really appreciate it.
Our pool and hot tub are scheduled to be open by mid-May, but I anticipate that to
be the latest date. In reality, it’s our goal to have them up and running as early
as the 1st of May.
We are a proud sponsor this year of the Grand Traverse Area Sport Fishing Association.
Our duty is hosting the Benzie Big Fish Bonanza that runs throughout the summer.
It should be a lot of fun for everyone.
Lori said I have been a good husband this winter and accomplished almost
everything on her “honey-do” list. So……. starting next week I’ll be heading
down to the marina on a daily basis to start the spring clean-up (weather permitting).
I was there the other day and it appears that we had some dock damage from the winter.
As there is always some maintenance needed, we will be taking care of those “issues”
in May which is when we can get the crews and barge there to do what’s needed.
It’s not a lot (and we can still operate), but I want to get it taken care of.
My tasks include: pressure washing all docks, complete cleaning of the building and
contents along with the bathrooms, completing a new patio area, adding to the
defined grilling area for our food service/parties, tree clean up (some trees took
a hit this winter and no longer will be with us), pool start-up and plumbing/pool pump
“checks”, painting and staining, fence repair from snow piled in our parking lot over
the winter, and much more. We have been working on stocking more supplies for our ship
store this year. We thought it would be fun to have more memorabilia for our guests
to take home as well as adding to the basic boaters supplies.
In the month of May we have a special offer for discounted or free food with a 1
night stay at the marina. This might be something to consider during May for an
early season “get-a-way” or for Memorial Day weekend. We will be having a Memorial
Day BBQ (on Sunday the 24th) and that’s open to anyone with or without a boat so
put it on your schedule. You can see the rest of our schedule on our website by

Marina Calendar

As a last request, get your spring cleaning and chores done so that we can play
this summer and make 2009 the best year yet!!!!
See you real soon and we’re wishing everyone Safe Travels!
